Katy Gutierrez (10th Grade): “My favorite memory in CLP was our first retreat located in Los Angeles; we got to interact with each other and relate social problems to the rest of the world including India, we also had the opportunity to volunteer passing out food to those in need. Lets realize our dreams of helping others.”
Jessica Adame (10th Grade): “My favorite memory in CLP was the day of Making Space. We got to all hang out and show people how much we cared about our community and about how we want to make a difference!”
Franay Cordova (11th Grade): “After hearing all the stories of great experiences mentors from CLP had, while in India, I felt encouraged... to take this opportunity, because to me it's a once in a lifetime chance. Child Leader Project does so well on educating us on local social issues and by having us travel to India, to meet and work side by side with our brother and sisters of CLP India, will only expand our global knowledge on issues we, as youth, can take action. I wish to gain leadership skills that come along after breaking borders and boundaries that deprive us from building relationships with youth from different countries that also wish to make an impact in the world. Personally traveling to India will allow me to get a glimpse of what other active CLP youth deal with on a day to day basis when striving toward Social Justice in their community. I look forward to the opportunity to share experiences with the Riverside community after returning from my trip with CLP, while showing that no matter what our age, sex, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, social standing, religion, etc. we are all people who genuinely want to and will make a difference.”
Crystal Bocheta (11th Grade): “Traveling to India is definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity. I feel ...that people should always try to understand others; the more they do, the more cohesive their relationships can be. I can't wait to live a completely different lifestyle from what I am used to and become a new and improved person through it.”
Jose Barragan (10th Grade): “My favorite memory in CLP was when we visited Growcology and learned about composting and sustainability efforts in Riverside!”
